Novelist Han Kang (54) became the first Korean writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, prompting congratulations from famous figures including BTS members. Actors Ryu Jun-yeol, Moon Ga-young, Ok Ja-yeon, and Kim Min-ha from the Apple TV series 'Pachinko' also shared the news of the award on social media, expressing their congratulations.
Singer HYNN (Huin·Park Hye-won), who was deeply moved and inspired by the sentence "Even if I get dirty, I will only hand over the white" while reading Han Kang's novel 'White' and even took her stage name from it, also applauded.

She added, "I was truly happy to hear the news of the author's Nobel Prize in Literature today," and said, "It is even more proud that the author's unique perspective and insight moved the whole world with a Korean work." On the same day, about 58,000 netizens visited the '2024 Nobel Prize in Literature' Naver Open Talk room, which was created to celebrate Han Kang's award, to congratulate her.
Not only famous figures but also netizens continued to offer congratulations. Netizens responded with comments such as, "I thought the Nobel Prize was a story from a faraway country, but I am so proud," "You have made an achievement that will go down in history," "I will definitely buy and read the book," and "I apologize for not recognizing the greatness of Korean literature until now." This is the second time a Korean has won a Nobel Prize, following the late former President Kim Dae-jung, who won the Peace Prize in 2000, marking 24 years since then. Han Kang is the first female winner in Asia.
