Construction Industry Demands Simplification of Administrative Procedures
The Seoul Metropolitan Government met with the top 13 construction companies with the highest construction capabilities, which are carrying out numerous redevelopment and reconstruction projects, to request the swift promotion of maintenance projects.

On the 10th, the city held a meeting with executives of construction companies at Seoul City Hall, presided over by Yoo Chang-soo, the Deputy Mayor for Administration 2, the city announced on the 11th. Attendees included Samsung C&T, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Engineering, DL E&C, GS Engineering & Construction, POSCO E&C, Lotte Engineering & Construction, HDC Hyundai Development Company, Hanwha, Gyeryong Construction Industry, Seohui Construction, and Kumho Construction.
This meeting was organized to listen to difficulties faced at construction sites and to share plans for the swift promotion of maintenance projects. The construction companies attending are performing contractor duties at major maintenance project sites within Seoul.
Representatives from the construction industry attending the meeting pledged to faithfully fulfill the obligations of construction companies to promote maintenance projects swiftly and fairly. They also requested simplification to ensure that various reviews maintain consistency and that administrative procedures proceed quickly during the progress of maintenance projects. There was also a suggestion to review so that architectural plans can be established reflecting diverse designs from contractors that harmonize with Seoul’s cityscape. They requested administrative mediation to resolve conflicts over construction costs and the establishment of practical construction costs reflecting the increase in construction material costs.
The city introduced support systems for maintenance projects such as rapid integrated planning and various conflict prevention systems, urging active use of these systems to ensure maintenance projects proceed swiftly. Seoul stated, "Conflicts over construction costs causing project delays and complicated administrative procedures must be improved through cooperation between the private sector and administrative agencies."
Deputy Mayor Yoo Chang-soo emphasized, "Maintenance projects can achieve the most outstanding results when administrative agencies, project implementers, and contractors cooperate according to lawful procedures," adding, "The city will prepare active administrative support and conflict management measures so that the construction industry can smoothly promote projects."
