"We eliminate troublesome cockroaches. Challenging the lowest price in the Kanto region! No additional costs whatsoever! Starting from 550 yen (approximately 5,000 KRW) including tax."

A Japanese pest control company lured consumers with this promotional phrase on their website. The site is called ‘Pest 110’ and the business operator is a company named ‘Orbital Period’ located in Tokyo. The claim that pests would be eliminated for 5,000 KRW was just talk. In reality, when consumers who saw the site contacted them, the company visited their homes, created anxiety by saying "there are cockroach eggs and other pests," and proposed spraying pesticides. The money collected this way ranged from 100,000 to 200,000 yen. When consumers hesitated due to the higher-than-expected cost, they said, "Actually, it costs several times more than this."

From April to August, the Japanese Consumer Affairs Agency received 138 complaints related to this company. Among them, women in their 20s accounted for about 41%, and men in their 20s about 22%, making up a large proportion. Of these, 118 cases actually paid the fees, with an average amount exceeding 109,000 yen. The highest amount reached 320,000 yen (approximately 2.92 million KRW).
