Selected as an Excellent Case in the 'Protecting Communities from Alcohol Harm' Category
'Women’s High-Risk Alcohol Rehabilitation Service Project' Gains International Recognition
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it received the World Health Organization (WHO) Healthy City Award at the 10th Western Pacific Healthy Cities Federation (AFHC) World Congress held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on September 25.
The WHO and the Western Pacific Healthy Cities Federation select outstanding cases in various categories at their biennial world congress and award the Healthy City Award to the selected cities.
At this congress, Dobong-gu's project was selected as an outstanding case in the category of "Protecting Communities from Alcohol Harm," receiving the Healthy City Award.
This is the result of international recognition for the district’s "Rehabilitation Service for High-Risk Women Alcohol Users through the Integrated Addiction Management Support Center."
This service identifies high-risk women alcohol users and provides addiction rehabilitation programs. It was highly evaluated for targeting women, who have lower accessibility to alcohol addiction treatment compared to men.
The project mainly consists of ▲ counseling using the metaverse ▲ women-specialized rehabilitation programs ▲ family education programs ▲ operation of an addiction prevention council.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “Receiving this Healthy City Award is highly meaningful as Dobong-gu’s addiction support project utilizing ICT technology has been internationally recognized. We will continue to discover and promote various projects so that Dobong-gu can become a leading city in health care.”
