Second Meeting of the Practical Council for Attracting Icheon Science High School Held

On the 26th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province and the Icheon Office of Education held the second meeting of the working-level consultative body for attracting a science high school, the office announced on the 27th.

The working-level consultative body was formed with 12 members, including working-level public officials, to prepare the application in accordance with the new designation plan for the 'Gyeonggi-type Science High School' announced by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.

The evaluation criteria for the application cover three areas: school establishment, school operation, and curriculum. At the meeting, the consultative body discussed the roles of each institution regarding the evaluation indicators, specific methods for conducting the meetings, and key strategies for Icheon Science High School. Both institutions agreed to continue holding regular meetings until the application submission to establish a highly complete and effective plan for the science high school.

Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon, stated, "Icheon is already the center of the semiconductor industry and has a solid foundation to nurture scientific talents, making it the optimal location for a science high school in the eastern Gyeonggi region." She added, "We will make every effort to attract the Gyeonggi-type Science High School to improve the local educational environment."
