Support for 'Customized Hygiene Management Techniques' for 58 Locations Including Restaurants Run by Operators Aged 65 and Over and Free Meal Centers
Creating a 'Safe Dining Culture' That 'Walks with the Vulnerable' by Reducing Hygiene Management Burdens for Elderly Operators
Improving Hygiene Levels and Kitchen Environment Through Pest Control, Contamination Measurement, and Hygiene Supplies Support
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has signed a business agreement with a specialized food hygiene company to alleviate the hygiene management burden on elderly business operators and create a safe dining environment, and will implement ‘Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support.’
The support targets 53 small-scale restaurants operated by elderly business owners. The district selected 53 establishments that requested hygiene management technical support and those in need of support through on-site surveys of small restaurants operated by individuals aged 65 or older.
Additionally, five free meal service centers near Yeongdeungpo Station are included. This is to assist in hygiene management at free meal centers where hygiene is difficult to maintain due to a large number of diners and outdoor meal distribution.
Through ‘Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support,’ the district aims to improve hygiene levels of ‘elderly business operators’ and ‘free meal centers,’ spreading a ‘safe food culture’ and practicing ‘solidarity with the vulnerable.’
‘Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support’ involves consultants from hygiene and disinfection specialist companies visiting restaurants directly to provide consulting on kitchen environment improvement.
The main contents include ▲ pest control work during summer and autumn ▲ education on compliance matters for business operators (food ingredient storage, personal hygiene management) ▲ measuring contamination of cooking utensils using a bacterial contamination meter (ATP) ▲ guidance on kitchen hygiene management such as hood and duct maintenance.
The consulting will be conducted over approximately three months. Afterwards, the district will support ‘customized hygiene management supplies’ based on the consulting results to enable business operators to continuously practice hygiene management. Restaurants that receive ‘Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support’ will have a ‘Hygiene Companion Restaurant’ signboard attached, enhancing public trust and the competitiveness of the restaurants.
A district official stated, “At first, business operators felt reluctant to show their kitchens to outsiders, but as they saw their establishments becoming cleaner, they became more actively engaged in the consulting.”
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “‘Customized Hygiene Management Technical Support’ not only improves the hygiene and competitiveness of local restaurants but also contributes to creating a dining culture where residents can feel safe. We will continue to promote various hygiene projects so that Yeongdeungpo-gu can establish itself as a leading district with a clean and safe dining environment.”
