Seongbuk-gu provides various care services such as safety support, social participation, and daily life assistance to about 1,900 vulnerable elderly living alone through agreements with Gireum, Jeongneung, Lifeline, and Seongbuk Senior Welfare Center.

The care robots to be introduced this time are expected to supplement and strengthen elderly-tailored care services, supporting elderly living alone to enjoy a safe and comfortable daily life.

Through an agreement with the robot manufacturing company Hyodol Co., Ltd., Seongbuk-gu will provide 100 elderly living alone with the grandchild care robot "Hyodol," equipped with ChatGPT. This robot manages health through interactive communication with the elderly, providing emotional support, exercise, medication management, and offers 24-hour emergency and safety management services through AI monitoring services.

Additionally, to ensure the smooth progress of this project, Seongbuk-gu conducted training on care robot operation for 170 dedicated social workers and life support workers who perform elderly-tailored care services. Through this, they plan to support the effective use of care robots in elderly care.

The emotional support care robot is expected to alleviate depression, loneliness, and isolation that may be encountered in old age and support daily life, thereby improving the quality of life for the elderly.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, "Through the care robot support project, we will provide more detailed welfare services to the elderly in various ways to realize safe care and do our best to create a happy city, Seongbuk-gu, where the elderly can live happily."
