Driver states, "I drank yesterday, not today"
In Busan, a truck driven by an unlicensed drunk driver crashed into cars parked in an apartment complex, broke through a safety fence, flew off, and landed on the rooftop of a villa, causing residents to evacuate.
On the 14th, the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency reported that around 10:30 a.m., a 1-ton truck hit five vehicles in succession in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Dangni-dong, Saha-gu, Busan, then broke through a safety fence and fell down. At the time of the accident, the vehicle made a loud noise as it fell onto the rooftop of a nearby villa. Fortunately, there were no casualties. However, considering the possibility of safety accidents, the police and fire authorities evacuated eight residents who were staying in the villa.
The police used cranes and other equipment to pull the truck up three hours after the accident. Then, Saha District Office conducted an emergency safety inspection and concluded that there was no risk of building collapse, allowing the residents to return home.
The truck driver, Mr. A, in his 50s, reportedly claimed during the police investigation that it was a "sudden unintended acceleration" accident. However, the police measured his blood alcohol concentration and found it to be at a license cancellation level, and on top of that, it was revealed that he was driving without a license. Mr. A reportedly stated, "I did not drink today, but yesterday."
The police stated, "There were no casualties, and we are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident with the driver."
