Nam Jinbok, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Member, Visits Welfare Facilities Ahead of Chuseok Following Restoration of Ulleung Heavy Rain Damage

Nam Jinbok, a three-term member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council's Construction and Firefighting Committee representing Ulleung, is experiencing a busier schedule than usual ahead of the holiday season.

After dedicating himself to recovery efforts in Ulleung-gun, which was hit by record-breaking heavy rain for the first time in 46 years, Nam spent the 12th of this month working on disaster relief. On the following day, the 13th, he briefly put down his shovel. With Chuseok approaching, he tirelessly visited welfare facilities in the Ulleung area, sweating as he went from place to place.

Still wearing his work boots, he rolled up his sleeves to put love into action for marginalized and vulnerable neighbors ahead of Chuseok.

On the 13th, Nam visited Songdam Silvertown, Songdam Home Welfare Center, and Ulleung Senior Welfare Center one after another, delivering consolation gifts prepared by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, encouraging staff, and sharing warm conversations.

That day, Nam delivered daily necessities, listened attentively to the difficulties faced by facility staff, offered words of encouragement, and personally checked the operation of the facilities to ensure that the elderly residents were not experiencing any inconveniences in their daily lives.

Nam Jinbok said, "Not only during Chuseok but also in everyday life, we must reach out to elderly neighbors who are struggling or isolated," adding, "We will do our utmost at the council level to create a community where all residents can feel warmth and compassion."

Every year, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council holds events to visit welfare facilities and deliver consolation gifts during the Seol and Chuseok holidays.
