Gilmore Space Signs MOU Agreement
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 12th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for space business cooperation with Australia's leading space company, Gilmore Space. The two companies held the MOU signing ceremony and discussed cooperation plans at the global defense industry exhibition 'Land Forces 2024' held in Melbourne, Australia.
Gilmore Space is developing a low Earth orbit rocket aiming for Australia's first independent space launch and also owns its own launch site, the 'Bowen Space Launch Site.' Through this agreement, the two companies will cooperate to explore the utilization of the local Australian launch site, promote exchanges between the two countries in the space industry sector, and discover other new space business opportunities.
Australia has high demand for satellite imagery to respond to natural disasters such as wildfires and possesses infrastructure for space launch ground stations. Considering this space industry environment, various mutually complementary collaborations with Korea are expected to be possible.
Following the MOU signed with the University of Surrey in the UK last July, Hanwha Aerospace plans to seek new business opportunities for global space business cooperation with leading overseas companies.
A Hanwha Aerospace official stated, "Based on the trust built through exports of the K9 self-propelled howitzer and the Redback infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), we will expand cooperation between the two countries in the space industry as well."
