Gwangju Urban Corporation Awarded 'Korea ESG Management Grand Prize'

"Continuous Achievements Recognized in Improving Housing Welfare"

Gwangju Urban Corporation won the ESG Management Grand Prize at the '2024 Korea ESG Awards' ceremony hosted by the National Assembly and government ministries.

Gwangju Urban Corporation announced on the 5th that it received the ESG Management Grand Prize at the '2024 Korea ESG Awards' ceremony held at the Korea Press Center, hosted by the National Assembly and government ministries.

Gwangju Urban Corporation was recognized for its contribution to spreading social value by continuously achieving results to improve housing welfare, such as supplying housing for low-income residents and promoting the green remodeling project for 3,500 units of aging public rental housing.

Since the inauguration of President Jeong Min-gon in 2021, the corporation has introduced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management strategies for regional development and has strived to reflect ESG values in all its businesses, including urban development, urban regeneration, housing construction, sales, rental management, and management of public and sports facilities.

This year marks the 19th ceremony of the awards, hosted by the Korea ESG Awards Organizing Committee. It is a government commendation given to outstanding organizations after evaluating their incorporation of ESG elements that continue sustainable social responsibility.

Jeong Min-gon, President of Gwangju Urban Corporation, said, “I am truly honored that our efforts for ESG management have been recognized through this award, and we will continue to lead ESG management as a representative public enterprise of Gwangju.”
