A former soccer player who fled after causing a drunk driving accident in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 3rd, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent former soccer player A (35), who is suspected of drunk driving and failure to take measures after an accident, to the prosecution without detention on the 21st of last month.
On July 12th at around 6:06 a.m., Mr. A crashed his car into a transformer on the sidewalk in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and fled the scene but was urgently arrested at his home. Although Mr. A denied drinking at the time of the incident, it was reported that he stated during the police investigation, "I drank and drove."
The police considered applying for an arrest warrant due to the suspect's flight, but since Mr. A admitted to drunk driving and cooperated with the investigation by submitting evidence, they reportedly did not apply for the warrant.
