BAT Rothmans Expands E-Cigarette Collection Program
Conducted at 100 Convenience Stores Nationwide
Resource Circulation Through Separate Recycling of Used Batteries
BAT Rossmann announced on the 2nd that it will expand its reward program nationwide, which offers discount coupons when returning the company's electronic cigarette devices such as Glo and Vuse.
The device return program is an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiative that collects unused devices for disposal and recycling, first launched in December 2021.
Through this revision, BAT Rossmann will expand the device return targets from the existing heated tobacco electronic cigarette Glo to include the liquid-type electronic cigarette Vuse, and will also expand participating stores nationwide to improve accessibility and convenience of the return program.
Glo and Vuse device returns are conducted through dedicated collection boxes set up at over 100 convenience stores nationwide, including CU, GS25, and 7-Eleven. The collected devices undergo a specialized reprocessing procedure to be disposed of or recycled by component. Batteries are separated and will be used in the manufacture of new batteries.
Consumers can check nearby return locations through the 'Find Device Return Locations' feature on the DiscoverGlo website. Special discount benefits are also available for returned devices. After returning a used Glo device, consumers can scan the QR code attached to the collection box and verify it in the chat window to receive a Glo device discount coupon worth approximately 5,000 KRW.
A BAT Rossmann representative stated, "Through the revision of the device return program, we aim to provide a platform that more effectively collects and recycles consumers' used old devices," adding, "We expect this to increase resource circulation rates and contribute to environmental protection and sustainable management."
