Yeongdeok County-Uzbekistan Sign Agreement on 'K-Traditional Medicine Silk Road Project'

Strengthening Traditional Medicine Research, Education, Technology Exchange, and Cooperation... Aiming for Wellness Industry Growth

Kim Kwangyeol, the governor of Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province, is visiting Uzbekistan from the 28th of this month to the 1st of next month to promote international cooperation for the 'K-Traditional Medicine Silk Road Project.'

The K-Traditional Medicine Silk Road Project is an initiative designed to expand cooperation with Central Asia and strengthen cultural and economic ties between countries, based on a government-academic cooperation system, to foster the growth of Yeongdeok County's wellness-based industry.


On the 29th, Governor Kim attended a signing ceremony held at the Bukhara State Government Office, where Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province, Andong City, Daegu Haany University, the Bukhara State Government, and Bukhara State Medical University pledged to cooperate for the development of traditional medicine and the wellness industry.


This agreement is expected to further advance Yeongdeok County's international cooperation system, which has been built up with countries such as India and Mongolia, and serve as an important stepping stone to enhance competitiveness in the global traditional medicine market centered on the region.


Based on this, Yeongdeok County plans to strengthen inter-country exchanges in traditional medicine research, education, and technology, focusing on the region, and to promote specific collaborative projects such as the establishment of the 'K-Hanbang Edu Farm.'


Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "This agreement is a very important stepping stone for Yeongdeok County to expand exchanges with Central Asia centered on the wellness industry and to strengthen global competitiveness in the field of traditional medicine," adding, "We will continue to develop the wellness industry so that it can serve as a catalyst for regional revitalization and a response to local extinction by building an extensive cooperation system both domestically and internationally and by leading close cooperation with the private sector and academia."
