Seoul Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced on the 29th that it signed a business agreement on the 28th with the Seoul Gangdong Police Station, the Seoul Headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Korea Road Traffic Authority to actively respond to the changing traffic environment in Gangdong-gu.

Through this agreement, Gangdong-gu and each institution will work together to prevent accidents by providing technical support related to traffic safety, installing traffic facilities, supporting promotional materials, and jointly conducting traffic safety education and promotional campaigns to establish a culture of traffic safety.

Gangdong-gu is experiencing a rapid increase in traffic demand due to the full-scale move-in of companies in the large-scale business complex Godeok Biz Valley and the commencement of occupancy at Olympic Park Foreon. Additionally, the local traffic environment is undergoing significant changes with the opening of the Line 8 extension and the Line 9 extension. Accordingly, the district has been striving to establish and maintain close communication with related organizations for prompt and professional responses.

Last year, to improve traffic in front of Seonsa Elementary School, Gangdong-gu held more than ten on-site meetings with related organizations and actively led consultations. As a result, it was recognized for significantly improving school routes' safety by creating traffic safety facilities such as diagonal crosswalks and was awarded the ‘Prime Minister’s Award for Child Safety’.

The ongoing cooperation with various institutions to improve the traffic environment was also the background for signing this business agreement.

Following this agreement, the district plans to form a working-level council with public institutions in the field of traffic safety and jointly promote various cooperative projects such as diagnosing vulnerable traffic sections and conducting safety-related campaigns. Through this, the district expects to make a significant contribution to preventing traffic accidents and improving school route safety.

District Mayor Lee Su-hee said, “Through this agreement, based on the expertise of each institution, we will do our best to respond quickly and actively to the changing traffic environment and create a safer and more pleasant Gangdong-gu.”
