Actor Shin Hyun-joon’s Former Manager Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison for Threatening 'Gapjil Exposure'

On the 28th, the 1st Criminal Division of the Daejeon District Court sentenced A, a man in his 40s and former manager of actor Shin Hyun-joon, to six months in prison in the appeal trial for the threat case. The court accepted the prosecution's appeal against the first trial's decision to impose a fine of 5 million won.

A was indicted on charges of threatening Shin by calling him around February 22, 2021, and sending text messages threatening to post his story on an online community. Around the summer of 2020, he tried to get unpaid wages from the agency through Shin, but when it did not go as planned, he harbored resentment and claimed to have been a victim of abuse of power. He was also investigated for threatening Shin by saying he would disclose this to the media.

The first trial court stated the sentencing reason, saying, "The victim was reported in the media as a so-called 'abusive celebrity' due to the exposure by another road manager and had to leave the programs he was appearing on," and added, "It appears that the victim felt severe fear due to the defendant's threats."
