Gas Safety Corporation to Expand Cooperation with Australia's AGA on 'Hydrogen Products and Equipment Testing and Certification'

The Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) announced on the 28th that it held the "7th KGS-AGA Regular Cooperation Meeting" with the Australian Gas Association (AGA) at its headquarters in Chungbuk Innovation City on the 27th.

AGA was established in 1962 through the merger of the National Gas Association and the Australian Gas Research Institute, conducting testing and certification services for gas products, containers, and pipelines. Based on its expertise, it also participates in the establishment of safety standards in Australia. Since signing a memorandum of understanding in 2009, KGS and AGA have continuously exchanged cooperation in certification testing and post-management, export company support, and holding regular meetings to promote the development of the gas industry in both countries.

At the meeting, KGS shared information on ▲ the current research status in the combustion device field related to the demonstration of hydrogen blending in city gas ▲ accidents involving portable butane heaters for heating and oxygen deficiency safety devices. AGA proposed ways to develop the partnership between AGA and KGS and exchanged opinions on strengthening gas product safety management and supporting companies.

In particular, both parties agreed to expand mutual cooperation to respond to the restructuring of the gas industry centered on hydrogen. They also plan to maintain close communication and exchange regarding testing and certification of hydrogen products and facilities such as water electrolysis equipment and fuel cells in the future.

Park Kyung-guk, President of KGS, who hosted the meeting, said, "KGS and AGA have worked hard for the development of the gas industry in Korea and Australia through mutual cooperation based on extensive experience and know-how in the field of gas product testing and certification." He added, "We will continue to strive to strengthen safety management and support company exports through international cooperation not only in existing gas products but also in new hydrogen product fields."
