Selected as the Only Exemplary New Project in 2024 Among All Counties Nationwide
Hamyang County in Gyeongnam Province announced on the 28th that it has been selected as an exemplary local government for the 2024 Daily Care Service Project.
According to the county, among the five locations selected through the exemplary case contest conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare last July, Hamyang County was the only county-level region chosen nationwide, and at the city, county, and district level, it was selected alongside Seodaemun-gu in Seoul.
This case will be shared nationwide as a model of project implementation and is scheduled to be awarded at the end of the year. The 'Daily Care Service Project' is a new initiative officially promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare from 2024, and is available to anyone aged 19 to 64 in need of care due to illness, injury, or isolation, or young people aged 13 to 39 who are caring for family members suffering from illness or mental disorders.
After paying a differential co-payment, users can choose from basic services (home care, housekeeping) and specialized services (hospital accompaniment, psychological support, meal and nutrition management), and applications are being accepted at all times.
In this contest, the county received high marks for its diverse and proactive outreach to residents, rapid identification of eligible recipients through public health center home cancer patients, mental health welfare center users, medical benefit case managers, and welfare officers in towns and villages before project implementation, as well as appointing the heads of service provider organizations as members of the Community Social Security Council, thereby providing opportunities to contribute to the development of community social security and instilling a sense of responsibility.
