About 10 people attended the briefing session, including Hwaseong City's Carbon Neutrality Implementation Officer, members of the Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee, and an external expert group.

The 'Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Basic Plan' is a statutory plan devised every five years to respond to the climate crisis under the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth. According to the law, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by 40% compared to 2018 levels by 2030, and carbon neutrality must be achieved by 2050.

The city plans to actively reflect the various opinions and advisory contents presented at the briefing session and establish the basic plan through a final briefing session and other processes.

Oh Je-hong, Hwaseong City's Carbon Neutrality Implementation Officer, said, "With extreme weather anomalies occurring this year and climate change response emerging as a national issue, carbon neutrality is a task that everyone must practice," adding, "We will establish a plan tailored to Hwaseong City's characteristics to lay the foundation for the effective realization of carbon neutrality policies."
