Asphalt specialist company SG announced on the 27th that Kang Sin-myeon, head of the Incheon Regional Public Procurement Service, visited the headquarters on the 23rd of this month to tour the production site and engage in on-site communication activities.
This visit by the head of the Public Procurement Service was arranged to inspect the production site of asphalt, a major government-supplied material, and to listen to difficulties and suggestions related to supply contracts.
Currently, SG has signed multiple-award contracts (MAS) with the Incheon Public Procurement Service and supplies government materials through the national e-procurement system comprehensive shopping mall. Since October last year, SG has been producing an eco-friendly ‘Eco Steel Asphalt’ registered product that recycles steel byproduct slag instead of natural aggregates, boasting more than twice the strength of regular asphalt.
Kang Sin-myeon, head of the Incheon Regional Public Procurement Service, stated, “We will actively support corporate activities so that excellent domestic products can enter overseas regions where national-level infrastructure investments are underway, such as Ukraine, India, and Indonesia. We also ask procurement companies to continuously strive for stable supply and quality control of asphalt to ensure smooth execution of projects by local public institutions.”
For its overseas asphalt business, SG signed a global cooperation system establishment and joint promotion agreement with POSCO International last month. Through this agreement, SG and POSCO International will build a global network and promote overseas market development and eco-friendly new businesses. The two companies are expected to contribute to expanding the ‘K-Brand’ through overseas public procurement in countries where asphalt demand is rapidly increasing.
An SG official said, “As a leading domestic asphalt manufacturer, we will produce high-quality products and become a model case of public-private cooperation through continuous research and development (R&D). We will do our best to achieve both quantitative and qualitative growth not only in the domestic public procurement market but also through overseas market expansion.”
