The expected minimum temperatures in major cities such as Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Daegu are forecasted to be 27 degrees Celsius. Ulsan's minimum temperature is expected to be 26 degrees Celsius. Busan's minimum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius, and after barely ending its longest tropical night record of 26 days, it is expected to experience another tropical night just one day later.
The highest temperature during the day on the 22nd will range from 29 to 36 degrees Celsius. Seoul 30°C, Incheon 29°C, Daejeon, Ulsan, Busan 33°C, Gwangju 32°C, Daegu 35°C are expected.
Temperatures will temporarily drop when it rains, but after the rain stops, temperatures will rebound under high humidity, continuing the heatwave. Rain will mostly cease at night in most areas, but it may continue until the early morning of the 23rd in eastern Gyeonggi, inland Gangwon, Gangwon mountains, inland Chungcheong, eastern Jeolla, Yeongnam, and Jeju.
Heavy rain of 20 to 30 mm per hour may pour in northern Gyeonggi and northern inland Gangwon, so caution is advised.
Expected rainfall amounts are 20 to 60 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, Gangwon mountains, and Chungcheong (with a maximum of over 80 mm in northern Gyeonggi and northern inland Gangwon), 5 to 30 mm on the Gangwon east coast, 5 to 40 mm in southern regions, and 10 to 60 mm in Jeju.
This weekend, morning temperatures are expected to be between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperatures between 31 and 34 degrees Celsius. Until the end of this month, temperatures will remain slightly above average, with the highest perceived temperatures around 33 degrees Celsius, making it hot with repeated tropical nights.
On the 22nd, strong winds with instantaneous speeds of around 55 km/h (up to 70 km/h in mountainous areas) will blow nationwide. Meanwhile, the first typhoon to reach the Korean Peninsula this year, Jongdari (Typhoon No. 9), has weakened into a tropical depression after bringing heavy rain, and a tropical depression expected to develop into Typhoon Shanshan (Typhoon No. 10) is moving northward. Since it is developing from the distant South Pacific and moving north, it is expected to be stronger than Jongdari.
