First in Autonomous District... Twice Annual Promotion to Strengthen Cooperation Between District and Association
Gangnam-gu has decided to regularize the 'Reconstruction Cooperation Network Meeting.' Provided by Gangnam-gu.
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 13th that it will regularize and promote the ‘Reconstruction Cooperation Network Meeting (Meeting with Union Heads)’ to communicate directly with reconstruction associations. Gangnam-gu is the first autonomous district to have the district mayor hold regular meetings with reconstruction complexes.
Currently, there are 97 maintenance projects (57 reconstruction maintenance projects) underway in Gangnam-gu, and as the 30-year reconstruction period for complexes completed in the 1990s to 2000s approaches, the target areas are expected to gradually increase. Reconstruction projects are important for residents’ housing safety and regional development, and the district mayor has taken the initiative to communicate directly with union heads to make rational decisions and expedite the projects.
In the first half of the year, the district mayor and union heads will meet to check the progress of projects and gather opinions from the union heads, while in the second half, the Director of the Urban Environment Bureau, the relevant department, will lead efforts to resolve practical difficulties.
To build a cooperative network, Mayor Jo Seong-myeong met with union heads of 22 reconstruction maintenance projects four times in July and August to listen to difficulties in the project process and seek solutions.
The district stated, “A representative issue raised at the meetings was difficulties caused by the price ceiling system for sale.” Gangnam-gu, designated as a speculative overheating district, sets sale prices at about 60-70% of the general market price, commonly called ‘lottery sales,’ but the cost burden is solely borne by the union members. The district plans to review proposals to improve the price ceiling system to ensure reasonable sale prices are set.
There was also positive feedback on the ‘Reconstruction Dream Support TF’ supported by the 8th-term Gangnam-gu administration to expedite reconstruction projects. The district explained that participants expressed gratitude for the TF experts visiting the associations directly to resolve conflicts and requested continuous visits. The district plans to improve the operation method by assigning experts to associations so that residents can better experience the TF’s activities.
Mayor Jo Seong-myeong said, “By communicating directly with the associations, we will accurately grasp the progress of reconstruction projects and promptly provide necessary administrative support,” adding, “We plan to expand meetings not only with reconstruction complexes but also with remodeling and small-scale maintenance project associations in the future.”
