Expansion and Establishment from 13 Departments and 66 Divisions to 15 Departments and 69 Divisions
To Be Implemented in October Pending Provincial Council Review and Approval
Chungnam Province is responding to the population crisis and strengthening regional competitiveness through an organizational restructuring.
The province announced on the 8th that it will pre-announce legislation for the amendment to the "Ordinance on the Organization and Staffing of Chungcheongnam-do Administrative Agencies" (organizational restructuring plan) by the 12th.
Through this restructuring, the provincial government will expand from 13 main departments (including 2 planning offices) and 66 divisions to 15 main departments (including 2 planning offices) and 69 divisions. The position of the Head of the Construction Headquarters will be elevated to grade 3.
This restructuring plan focuses on responding to the population crisis, expanding smart agriculture, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.
To this end, new Population Strategy and Architecture & Urban Affairs departments will be established to proactively address the population crisis and to strengthen regional competitiveness by creating public buildings that reflect local characteristics.
Additionally, a Bio-Industry Division will be established in the Industrial Economy Office and a Forest Recreation Division in the Environment and Forestry Office to create future growth engines through the establishment of a bio-cluster and to enhance forest welfare services.
The Seed Management Office of the Agricultural Technology Institute will be separated and newly established as the Smart Agriculture Headquarters to support policies for fostering the seed industry and smart farms.
The Rural Vitality Division will be reorganized into the Rural Restructuring Division to develop leading models for rural spaces.
The province plans to collect residents' opinions until the 12th and then submit the ordinance amendment to the provincial council.
If the amended ordinance is reviewed and approved at the 355th temporary session starting August 27, it will take effect from October.
