The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is the first local government in the country to establish a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based early prevention system for high-risk isolated youth and young adults in crisis.
On the 8th, Suwon City announced that it was selected in April for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “2024 Digital Society Issue Resolution Project Competition.” The city plans to select a contractor in September and build the system from October through February next year. The service is targeted to launch in March next year.
Suwon City’s “Generative AI-Based Early Prevention System for High-Risk Isolated Youth and Young Adults in Crisis” is a service that manages and supports de-isolation and de-reclusion, enabling high-risk isolated youth and young adults to continuously receive help from their adolescent stage.
The main early prevention system includes ▲ generative AI-based empathetic conversational counseling service ▲ construction of learning data ▲ customized exercise kiosks. The total project cost is 1.2 billion KRW.
The generative AI-based empathetic conversational counseling service uses generative AI to provide counseling that feels like a conversation rather than a survey to high-risk isolated youth and young adults in crisis. It analyzes the content and patterns to diagnose the user’s condition and analyze counseling intentions.
Based on the results of the generative AI-based counseling, face-to-face counseling and online/offline activity programs operated by organizations such as the Suwon Youth and Young Adult Foundation are introduced to support external activities for isolated youth and young adults in crisis.
The construction of learning data involves building learning data for generative AI-based counseling and diagnosis, and the customized exercise kiosks use multimedia learning (exercise) kiosks to guide youth and young adults in personalized exercise.
A Suwon City official stated, “We view the isolated and reclusive lifestyles of youth and young adults not as individual problems but as social issues, and we will provide AI technology-based public services for isolated and reclusive youth and young adults who are in welfare blind spots.”
Generative AI is an AI technology that creates new content similar to existing content by utilizing text, audio, images, and other existing media.
