Daegu Office of Education to Recruit 156 New Public School Teachers... 73 Elementary Teachers Hired Due to Increase in Neulbom Schools

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) announced the “2025 Public School Teacher Recruitment Preliminary Notice” at 10 a.m. on the 7th through the office's official website.

In the “2025 Public School Teacher Recruitment Exam,” which will be held simultaneously in 17 cities and provinces, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to recruit a total of 156 new teachers: 12 kindergarten teachers, 73 elementary school teachers, 58 secondary school teachers, and 13 special education teachers (2 for kindergarten, 9 for elementary, and 2 for secondary).

Compared to the 2024 academic year, the number of kindergarten and elementary school teachers increased by 8 and 43 respectively, while the number of secondary and special education teachers decreased by 8 and 14 respectively, resulting in a total increase of 29 positions.

An official from the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “Although the number of elementary school students is decreasing each year, the number of Neulbom Schools in elementary schools will increase from 70 in the first half of the year to 240 in the second half, which has led to the addition of 43 elementary school teacher positions.”

The recruitment exam for kindergarten, elementary, and special (kindergarten/elementary) teachers will have its implementation plan announced on September 11. Online applications will be accepted for five days from September 30 to October 4, and the first round of exams will be held on November 9.

The recruitment exam for secondary and special (secondary) teachers will have its implementation plan announced on October 2. Online applications will be accepted for five days from October 14 to October 18, and the first round of exams will be held on November 23.

As the validity period for the “Korean History Proficiency Test” scores was abolished starting from the 2024 academic year, for the 2025 teacher recruitment exam, all scores of level 3 or higher obtained up to the 72nd Korean History Proficiency Test scheduled for October 20 will be valid.
