[Good Morning Stock Market] "KOSPI Expected to Move Within Limits... Focus on Earnings"

Overnight, the U.S. stock market showed limited movement as investors awaited big tech earnings and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, and the KOSPI is also expected to be influenced by these U.S. market conditions. Accordingly, individual stocks such as Samsung SDI, EcoPro BM, and Hanwha Systems are anticipated to lead the market based on their respective earnings.

The three major indices of the New York Stock Exchange closed mixed on the 29th (local time) within a narrow range. On the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the blue-chip-focused Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 49.41 points (0.12%) from the previous trading day to close at 40,539.93. The large-cap S&P 500 index rose 4.44 points (0.08%) to 5,463.54, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq index gained 12.32 points (0.07%) to finish at 17,370.2.

This was interpreted as a cautious stance ahead of this week’s FOMC meeting. Big tech companies, which are about to release earnings, saw buying interest driven by investor expectations, leading to gains.

The KOSPI is expected to show limited movement on the 30th.

Ji-won Kim, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "This week, variables such as big tech earnings, employment data, and the FOMC are increasing market volatility, leading to a prevailing cautious sentiment. Limited fluctuations are expected domestically as well." He added, "EcoPro’s earnings announcement is scheduled for today, and there is growing interest in whether the surge in Tesla’s stock price will contribute to improving sentiment toward secondary batteries."

Ji-young Han, a researcher at Kiwoom Securities, commented, "Today, similar to the U.S. market, the market is expected to enter a waiting phase influenced by major events in the middle of the week. The market is likely to be driven by individual stock performance issues such as Samsung SDI, EcoPro BM, and Hanwha Systems."
