On the 20th, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, citing industry sources and social media posts, that despite the MS-triggered IT crisis, China's major infrastructure such as airlines, international airports, and financial institutions operated normally without any interruptions.

Since most of China's public services were unaffected, MS's Chinese websites and social media accounts did not display any emergency notices.

The incident occurred when the US IT security company CrowdStrike updated its security software, which caused a conflict with the MS operating system Windows, leading to problems with MS cloud services. The phenomenon of the computer screen suddenly turning blue, known as the 'Blue Screen of Death,' appeared, and major systems worldwide also stopped functioning.

Regarding why China's infrastructure remained relatively unaffected amid the global IT crisis, SCMP analyzed that it was due to China's reduced dependence on foreign service providers such as MS and CrowdStrike. This is also interpreted as a result of the US decoupling (separation of supply chains, etc.) and China's push for scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.

On the other hand, foreign media also reported that Hong Kong was not spared from the IT crisis, with delays or suspensions in flight operations and check-in services, as well as system issues occurring in foreign companies and global hotel chains operating in China.
