Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province is conducting water quality inspections at six beaches until August 28 to ensure clean and safe beach operations.
The water quality inspections will be carried out a total of five times: once before opening, three times during the season, and once after closing.
The inspection targets two items directly related to the occurrence of enteritis: enterococci and Escherichia coli. The detection standards are 100 CFU or 100 MPN per 100ml or less for enterococci, and 500 CFU or 500 MPN per 100ml or less for Escherichia coli. Samples are collected from six designated points at each beach using sterilized water bottles of at least 1 liter.
The Uljin County Public Health Center reported that all 36 samples from the pre-opening inspection conducted on the 3rd met the standards and were deemed 'suitable.' The results were forwarded to the Marine and Fisheries Division to be used for hygienic beach water quality management.
County Governor Son Byungbok stated, "As befits clean Uljin, all our beaches maintain pristine water quality," and added, "We will continue our efforts to provide a pleasant environment where visitors can feel safe and comfortable."
The six beaches in Uljin County (Nagok, Hujeong, Bongpyeong, Mangyangjeong, Gusan, and Hupo) opened on July 12 and will operate for a total of 38 days until August 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
