File Construction Possible Without Space Constraints
Higher Stiffness Compared to Standard Reinforcement Files Enables Shorter Construction Time
POSCO E&C announced on the 8th that it has jointly developed a 'High-Rigidity Reinforcement Pile (Pile) Press-In Construction Method and Quality Control Technology' specialized for remodeling construction with the ground specialist company GeoPro.
The 'High-Rigidity Reinforcement Pile Press-In Construction Method specialized for remodeling' developed by POSCO E&C uses a small hydraulic device to install reinforcement piles without spatial constraints in underground spaces or sections adjacent to walls.
The existing reinforcement pile method uses large-scale drilling equipment to bore holes into hard bedrock. This posed limitations in remodeling projects where construction is carried out in narrow spaces while maintaining the framework.
Additionally, since the newly developed method inserts piles with a diameter more than three times longer than conventional reinforcement piles, the pile rigidity increases, allowing for a reduction in quantity, which leads to cost savings and shorter construction periods.
Along with this, the developed 'High-Rigidity Reinforcement Pile Quality Control Technology' attaches sensors to the piles during installation to quantitatively measure the pile press-in load, verticality, and settlement.
Unlike the previous method that verified quality for only some piles, this technology evaluates the bearing capacity, rigidity, and verticality of all reinforcement piles and analyzes the relationship between rigidity and press-in load, thereby improving quality completeness.
POSCO E&C has demonstrated the constructability and safety of the newly developed reinforcement pile technology by applying it on a trial basis at remodeling construction sites. It plans to expand its application to remodeling sites starting construction in the future.
Furthermore, there are plans to enhance the quality control system, including enabling site managers to manage pile quality in real time via mobile devices.
A representative from POSCO E&C’s R&D Center stated, “We will continue to develop technologies that secure constructability, economic efficiency, safety, and construction quality to lead the remodeling market.”
