Gwangjin-gu Takes Action to Prevent Summer Disasters...478 Public Workers Supported with 4 Types of Safety Supplies

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is providing safety supplies to 478 outdoor workers in public job projects to prevent summer disasters and is monitoring the working environment of the workers.

Public jobs are employment projects that help vulnerable groups achieve economic independence. Since this summer is expected to have higher temperatures than usual, they have started supporting heat illness prevention supplies to prevent safety accidents that may occur during outdoor work.

The supported items include cooling sleeves, cool scarves, and UV protection hats made of cooling materials to lower body temperature. In addition, breathable summer safety vests are provided to ensure comfort in the heat.

Along with this, strict adherence to safety rules is enforced. During heatwave warnings, workers take 10 to 15-minute breaks every hour, and working hours are flexibly adjusted to protect workers. If any abnormal symptoms appear or weather conditions worsen, work will be immediately suspended.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have implemented safety measures to prevent various safety accidents that may occur during the heatwave period,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that many people working hard on site can work safely and healthily without injury.”

In the second half of this year, 478 public job workers are assigned as outdoor workers. They are active in various fields such as traffic safety guards in school zones, pedestrian environment management, and counseling teams for street homeless people.
