Reflecting Regional Characteristics and Core Values
On the 26th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has developed the 'Pyeongtaek City Exclusive Typeface,' which embodies the region's characteristics and core values, and is currently distributing it for free through the city’s official website.
The 'Pyeongtaek City Exclusive Typeface' was developed by the city to enhance the urban brand and create a unified city image. After completing the development of three types in five styles last October, gathering feedback, and registering copyrights, it is now being distributed for free use.
The Pyeongtaek City Exclusive Typeface includes three types: 'Pyeongtaek Anbo-che,' representing the city’s security guardians; 'Pyeongtaek Bandochae,' expressing the city’s identity as the global semiconductor capital and its innovative future values; and 'Pyeongtaek Noeul-che,' conveying the comfort and softness of the reed forest at Wonpyeong Naru, the birthplace of the children’s song "Noeul." The typeface consists of 2,350 Korean characters, 94 English letters, and 986 symbols.
Pyeongtaek City plans to promote the exclusive typeface by applying it in various fields such as posters, banners, signboards, and social media (SNS) promotional materials.
Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek City, stated, "We will utilize the exclusive typeface in various fields to build the city’s brand image," adding, "We hope it becomes a popular typeface that many people can use without copyright concerns."
