Delivery to Children, Disabled, and Other Priority Groups in Gwangyang Area
The Equipment Technology Department of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks will donate all of the 10 million KRW proceeds generated from its internal communication event, ‘Sarangnanum Hope Day,’ to the local community.

This event was held to deliver part of the 10 million KRW proceeds from the department’s communication event ‘Sarangnanum Hope Day,’ which took place on May 22, so that 3 million KRW could be used to improve the welfare of local children.
The Equipment Technology Department plans to share the total proceeds of 10 million KRW from the event with the local community in three installments, including the donation ceremony held that day. Previously, on the 13th, they donated 4 million KRW to underprivileged groups residing in Gwangyeong-dong.
On the 26th, the remaining donation of 3 million KRW will be delivered to the Gwangyang City Association of the Visually Impaired. The donated funds will be used respectively to support living expenses for underprivileged groups and cultural projects for the visually impaired.
The ‘Sarangnanum Hope Day’ event is a charity event where employees of the Equipment Technology Department at Gwangyang Steelworks prepare beer and snacks themselves to share not only with employees but also with citizens. This event has been held annually since 2010 and marked its 12th year this year.
The employees of the Equipment Technology Department have been donating all proceeds from ‘Sarangnanum Hope Day’ to make the event a place of communication and harmony with the citizens of Gwangyang, beyond just internal exchange among employees.
So far, approximately 79 million KRW in proceeds have been delivered to underprivileged groups such as children and people with disabilities, as well as local social welfare facilities.
Lee Minheon, head of the Equipment Technology Department at Gwangyang Steelworks, who organized the event, said, “I thank all employees who actively participated in fundraising to share love with our neighbors,” and added, “We will continue our efforts to ensure warm hands reach every corner of our local community.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks is leading the practice of a warm sharing culture with the local community by carrying out various contribution activities such as the ‘Voluntour,’ a healing trip with underprivileged groups including people with disabilities, providing health management programs for local seniors, and joint volunteer activities with sister villages.
