Kim Joo-hyung and An Byeong-hun will participate in the Paris Olympics.
In the men's golf weekly world rankings announced on the 16th (local time), Kim Joo-hyung ranked 26th and An Byeong-hun ranked 27th. Although both dropped in the world rankings compared to last week, they maintained the top two positions among Korean players. Olympic qualification is based on the official Olympic rankings, which are derived from the world rankings. The top two players qualify for the Olympic stage. The golf event at the Paris Olympics will be held from August 1st. The venue is Le Golf National Golf Course near Paris, France. The competition format is a 4-round, 72-hole stroke play. The entry list consists of 60 players.
Kim Joo-hyung will be making his Olympic debut. He has the opportunity to receive military service benefits as he has not yet fulfilled his military duty. If he wins a bronze medal or higher at the Olympics, his military service will be replaced by basic military training. An Byeong-hun secured his second Olympic appearance following the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. If either player declines to participate or is unable to compete due to injury, the Olympic qualification will pass to lower-ranked players such as Im Sung-jae, ranked 34th, and Kim Si-woo, ranked 46th.
Scottie Scheffler (USA) firmly held the number 1 spot. US Open runner-up Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) rose one spot from 3rd to 2nd last week. Xander Schauffele (USA) is 3rd, Ludvig ?berg (Sweden) 4th, and Wyndham Clark (USA) 5th. US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau (USA) jumped 28 spots to 10th.
