Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province was selected as the best city/county for snow removal work last winter.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 12th that it evaluated 31 cities and counties on 17 items including snow damage countermeasure planning, equipment pre-maintenance and management, and exemplary snow removal cases, selecting Pocheon City as the top institution.
Pocheon City showed excellent performance in all areas, such as securing contingency funds to support village snow removal equipment, conducting mock drills for heavy snowfall, and devising rescue measures for stranded vehicles.
Based on the evaluation results, Gyeonggi Province will award certificates of commendation and provide 200 million KRW in road maintenance support funds to the top 9 excellent cities and counties, including Pocheon City.
Yang Chun-seok, head of the Road Safety Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The road snow removal evaluation aims to raise interest in snow removal work, and we will continue to do our best with cities and counties to create a safe road environment during winter."
