Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo District, attended the ‘Hwagok 1-dong Senior Citizens Samgyetang Sharing Event’ on the 30th to spend time with the elderly and support their healthy summer.
The event, held in the multipurpose room of the Hwagok 1-dong Community Center, was attended by about 90 senior citizens.
The event was planned by the Hwagok 1-dong Samgyetang Sharing Event Promotion Committee, composed of professional organizations and residents. They took care of the entire event, from fundraising to serving meals and organizing congratulatory performances.
The Promotion Committee served samgyetang, rice cakes, and fruits to the local seniors. In addition, side events such as a congratulatory performance by the local saxophone club and a screening of the nostalgic silent film ‘The Prosecutor and the Female Teacher,’ which is now unfamiliar, were prepared to give the seniors cherished memories.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the professional organizations, volunteers, and local residents who prepared this event for the healthy summer of our seniors. The district office will also continue various efforts to improve the health and welfare of the elderly, including providing lunch five days a week at senior centers and expanding job opportunities for seniors.”
