Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center to Host Event from October 22-25, Over 1,400 Participants from 80 Countries Expected
On the morning of the 30th at 11:20 AM, the city of Busan will hold an inaugural ceremony for the organizing committee at City Hall, marking the first step toward the successful hosting of the 27th 2024 Busan World Volunteer Conference.
This event will be attended by over 20 people, including Mayor Park Hyungjoon, who serves as the co-chair of the conference, Bang Seongbin, President of BNK Busan Bank, Park Yunae, Chairperson of the Korea Central Volunteer Center, as well as advisory committee members.
The organizing committee will provide advice and cooperation in practical areas such as planning, operation, and promotion of the conference. Their roles will range from establishing the basic plan for the event, developing detailed programs, selecting key speakers, to devising promotional strategies.
The advisory committee and the planning and operations committee are comprised of about 20 members from the volunteer sector, media, and MICE industry.
The advisory committee will discuss the direction for the development of the conference and cooperation measures, playing a vital role in the successful hosting of the event through their expertise in each field.
The planning and operations committee will be responsible for detailed planning and all related tasks of the event, including keynote speeches, seminars, and forums, based on the discussions of the advisory committee.
The 27th 2024 Busan World Volunteer Conference will be held under the theme "The Power of Humanity, Creating a Sustainable Future through Volunteering" from October 22 to 25 at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX).
During the conference, keynote speeches, forums, and seminars will highlight the importance of volunteering and explore directions for the development of volunteer activities.
Approximately 1,400 participants from 80 countries involved in volunteering are expected to attend, making it a venue for international cooperation to revitalize the global volunteer network and achieve sustainable development goals.
Additionally, various side programs such as an Information Marketplace and Voluntour will be held.
The city plans to showcase Busan's volunteer capabilities to the world and strengthen the global volunteer network through this conference.
In particular, the city will widely promote its pilot project, the "Blockchain-based Volunteer Bank," to participating countries. This system is expected to draw significant interest as it contributes to building a warm and happy community through the mutual exchange of volunteer activities.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "This conference is an important opportunity to solidify Busan's role as a global hub for volunteering," and added, "I ask for the interest and participation of all citizens and organizations. Through the launch of this organizing committee, we will make the conference even more enriching. We will do our best to widely promote the importance of volunteer activities and further spread the culture of volunteering."
