Celebrating its second year following last year's inaugural event, the Korea Barefoot Walking Festival is held in conjunction with the Pohang International Fireworks Festival. The main event, barefoot walking, features a course that highlights Pohang's unique local characteristics, allowing participants to walk while enjoying views of both the forest and the sea.

Participants can also join the Barefoot Singing Contest or enjoy various games at the game booths, while the flea market offers a wide range of sights and activities.

In addition, the Nam-gu and Buk-gu Public Health Centers of Pohang will operate health promotion booths to provide information related to walking and health. This year, participants will also have the special experience of following the barefoot course while solving quizzes.

The first Korea Barefoot Walking Festival, held last year, attracted around 3,000 enthusiasts from across the country and was a great success at Songdo Pine Forest. As interest in barefoot walking continues to grow, even more participation is expected this year.

Kim Eungsoo, Director of the Blue City Project Group, said, "As a city leading the barefoot walking movement, we will thoroughly prepare to ensure the 2nd Korea Barefoot Walking Festival is held safely and meaningfully," adding, "We hope many people will take an interest, participate in barefoot walking, and enjoy a healing time watching the International Fireworks Festival."

The city is continuously expanding infrastructure for barefoot walking by newly constructing loess trails in areas with high numbers of barefoot walkers, such as Songdo Pine Forest and Haedo Urban Forest. Through the Barefoot Walking Festival and the creation of barefoot trails that foster community among neighbors, the city aims to spread a healthy walking culture among citizens and establish an eco-friendly city image.
