Park Ji-young underwent an appendectomy.
Her management company, WP Sportainment, announced on the 23rd, "Park Ji-young underwent appendectomy surgery on the 21st and will not participate in the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour E1 Charity Open (total prize money 900 million KRW) and the Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Ladies Open (total prize money 1 billion KRW) held in May." After a recovery period, she is scheduled to compete in the Celltrion Queens Masters (total prize money 1.2 billion KRW) taking place on June 7 at Seolhaewon CC in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province.
Park Ji-young is a strong player with a total of nine wins on the KLPGA Tour, including one major victory. This year, she won the Mediheal-Korea Daily Championship in April and the 10th Kyochon 1991 Ladies Open in May. Leveraging her long drives averaging 252.48 yards (9th) and her pinpoint iron shots with a green hit rate of 78.67% (4th), she has entered the top 10 three times. She ranks 3rd in prize money (432.76 million KRW) and points for the Player of the Year (178 points), and 2nd in average score (69.56 strokes).
