Brain science-based digital therapeutics (DTx) startup Beltherapeutics announced on the 23rd that it has signed a supply contract for a hearing rehabilitation application (app) with the Cochlear Implant Center at Seoul National University Hospital.
Through this project, it is expected that the difficulties in the rehabilitation process, which have been one of the biggest concerns for pediatric cochlear implant patients and their guardians, can be significantly improved. Hearing rehabilitation plays a crucial role in lifelong language and auditory abilities, especially for pediatric cochlear implant users, so providing rich auditory experiences during childhood is important. However, having to visit related institutions every time for rehabilitation caused considerable inconvenience for pediatric cochlear implant patients and their guardians.
Accordingly, Beltherapeutics developed a hearing rehabilitation program and music therapy content to help pediatric cochlear implant patients experience a rich world of sounds and develop their hearing and language abilities. This project is a testbed initiative, and the program will be provided to some patients at the Cochlear Implant Center of Seoul National University Hospital. The related costs will be supported by Seoul National University Hospital.
Professor Lee Sang-yeon of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Seoul National University Hospital said, "This project is part of efforts to provide practical assistance to pediatric cochlear implant patients." CEO Lee Jae-eun of Beltherapeutics also stated, "We are extremely pleased that the hearing rehabilitation app can be used as a useful tool in the clinical field of Seoul National University Hospital."
