Comprehensive Summer Measures from May 15 to October 15
24 Tasks in Four Areas: Heatwave, Flood Control, Safety, and Health... Thorough Preparation for Disasters and Safety Accidents
Jungnang-gu will implement the '2024 Comprehensive Summer Measures' until October 15 to prevent various safety accidents that may occur during the summer and minimize damage.
The district has prepared 24 tasks in four areas: ▲heatwave ▲flood control ▲safety ▲health, and plans to respond proactively to ensure the safety of residents throughout the summer.
First, as a heatwave measure, a dedicated organization will be formed and operated according to the crisis alert level to quickly identify and respond to damage situations. Under normal circumstances, the 'Heatwave T/F Team' operates; when a special warning is issued, the 'Heatwave Comprehensive Support Situation Room' is activated; and in case of large-scale damage, the 'Heatwave Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' will be run to protect residents' safety.
Also, this year, 50 additional shade shelters have been added, operating a total of 171 locations, and 'Jungnang Ongdalsaem' is operated on major walking trails to provide free bottled water, preventing heatwave damage throughout the region.
Support for vulnerable groups is also strengthened. Street counselors for the homeless will be expanded to enhance patrols, and cooling shelters will be increased by five from last year to a total of 133 locations. In addition to health management visits for vulnerable groups in preparation for heatwaves, non-face-to-face real-time safety checks using safety management solutions (IoT devices) will also be conducted.
Flood control measures are also carefully managed. To protect residents from natural disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, and floods, a Flood Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will be established, and a six-level emergency work system will be operated according to weather alerts.
Prior to preparing these measures, since January, the district has completed on-site inspections and maintenance of 19 locations including rainwater pumping stations and sluice gates, as well as 181 flood control facilities and flood-vulnerable areas. Policies for stabilizing the lives of disaster victims have also been prepared, including pre-arranging temporary housing facilities and disaster relief supplies in case of possible flooding.
Moreover, during heatwaves, water spraying trucks will be operated, and temporary waste transfer stations will be set up to handle waste in case of flood damage, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance.
Finally, as a health measure, emergency disinfection will be conducted to prevent infectious diseases, and mosquito and pest damage will be prevented by installing and operating pest-attracting insecticides and automatic pest repellent sprayers.
Furthermore, hygiene conditions will be thoroughly inspected in advance at group meal facilities with a high risk of food poisoning, such as schools, daycare centers, and kindergartens, and education and publicity will be conducted to perfectly prevent food poisoning.
Above all, the district will focus all efforts on proactive safety management to prevent safety accidents. To prevent major civic disasters, pre-inspections will be conducted on 45 target facilities, and safety inspections will be carried out on construction sites, gas supply facilities, and various disaster-vulnerable facilities to block risk factors in advance and proactively prevent various disasters.
District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said, “We will prioritize the safety of residents and thoroughly prepare and manage against various safety accidents such as heatwaves and floods to ensure that all residents can have a safe summer.”
