Jungnang-gu to Host '2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,' the 'Most Beautiful Festival in Seoul,' at Jungnang Rose Garden from 18th to 25th...Crowds Overflow from the First Day, Making It Hard to Tell Flowers from People
Seoul’s representative spring festival, the ‘2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,’ has returned to us once again.
The Jungnang District Office (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) and the Jungnang Cultural Foundation (CEO Yoo Kyung-ae) will hold the ‘2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,’ known as ‘the most beautiful festival in Seoul,’ for eight days from the 18th to the 25th at the Jungnang Rose Garden.
Starting this year, the festival’s name has been changed to ‘2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival’ to include ‘Jungnang’ in the title. This aims to preserve the historical significance and uniqueness of the Jungnang local festival and establish its identity as a regional festival that will continue its tradition for over 100 years.
Visitors to the Rose Park can also see Jungnang’s exclusive new rose variety named ‘Mangu Rose,’ which was named last year through a naming ceremony. To make it easier to find the beautiful roses you want to see, a ‘Jungnang Rose Garden Rose Distribution Map’ has been created to enhance viewing convenience.
As a representative rose festival of Korea, the festival has focused on roses by planting an additional 8,000 rose bushes to fully enjoy the ‘beautiful roses,’ the main attraction of the festival.
Along the 5.45 km embankment of Jungnangcheon Stream, the largest rose tunnel in Korea, and in five other locations including Surimdae Park, rose gardens have been created where visitors can admire 10 million roses throughout the festival site. With 209 varieties and about 310,000 rose bushes, roses from various countries such as France, Germany, and Denmark, including Angela, Pink Perfume, Grande Classe, and Gold Facade, are in full bloom.
This festival, featuring a spectacular display of 10 million roses, offers visitors a variety of attractions, food, and entertainment.
On the first day of the festival, the 18th, the event kicks off with a rose parade with Jungnang residents, followed by the Jungnang Rose Week proclamation ceremony and a rose concert. Singers Kim Hee-jae and Soyumi performed congratulatory shows at the rose concert, elevating the festival’s atmosphere.
On the second day, the 19th, activities include rose plogging, the Jungnang Citizen Awards ceremony, and the Rose Song Festival. The Rose Song Festival features the grand championship of the Jungnang residents’ singing contest, with a main performance by singer Bae Ah-hyun, a Jungnang promotional ambassador and winner of Miss Trot 3.
Various booths and programs that satisfy all five senses are also prepared. These include ▲Rose Industry Exhibition ▲Rose-themed items using the festival BI ▲Rose Market ▲Rose Bookstore ▲Jungnang District experience and promotion ▲Domestic exchange hall ▲Sharing markets in 16 neighborhoods ▲Rose Road Market selling excellent products from Jungnang’s small and medium enterprises ▲and the Rose Flower Light Street Flea Market held on Dongil-ro 163-gil.
Food booths operated by Jungnang’s traditional markets and organizations will offer a variety of dishes, providing another source of enjoyment for tourists visiting the festival.
In particular, special management will be in place to prevent overcharging, which has been a controversy at many festivals. During the festival, an overcharging report center will be operated, and an on-site inspection task force will be formed to intensively monitor and crack down on overcharging.
Additionally, the district will operate the ‘Jungnang Rose Week Linked Restaurants,’ offering a 10% discount at restaurants for visitors to the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival.
The ‘2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival’ is an environmentally conscious festival, conducting the zeROSE Waste campaign. Activities include ‘Rose Plogging,’ where participants pick up trash while running along the rose paths, operation of the ‘zeROSE Cafe’ with eco-friendly products and tumbler discounts, and online events including environmental campaigns, all aimed at creating an eco-friendly festival together with visitors.
On the final day of the festival, the 25th, related events such as the Jungnang Artist Festival, the Malkong Dalkong In Myeonmok festival for the Myeonmok living commercial district, and the Social Welfare Expo will be held at Myeonmok Sports Park.
Detailed information about the ‘2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival’ can be found on the Jungnang Cultural Foundation’s website.
Above all, the district is putting full effort into visitor safety management in anticipation of large crowds. About 2,400 safety personnel will be deployed throughout the festival site to maintain order and ensure safety. Crowded areas will be closely monitored, and a close cooperation system with related organizations such as police and fire departments will be established to prepare for any emergencies.
Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang District said, “The festival is even more meaningful because it is created together with residents. We have prepared various spaces and programs where you can enjoy the festival while admiring the 10 million blooming beautiful roses, so please enjoy it with your family, lovers, and friends.”
