Korea Development Bank Hosts Seminar on 'Industrial Transformation through Climate Tech Development'
Lectures and Discussions on Climate Tech Promotion in Shipbuilding, Ports, Petrochemicals, Automobiles, and Energy Sectors
On the 14th, Korea Development Bank (KDB) held a seminar titled 'Industrial Transformation through the Promotion of Climate Tech' at the Nurimaru APEC House in Busan to commemorate its 70th anniversary, the bank announced on the 15th.
The seminar was attended by about 100 people, including KDB Chairman Kang Seok-hoon, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Tan Nokwi, officials from Busan City, and corporate clients of KDB. In the keynote speech, Professor Jung Soo-jong from Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies presented on 'New Growth Engines in the Carbon Neutral Era: Climate Tech Solutions,' and Je Hyun-joo, CEO of Envisioning Partners, shared 'Major Domestic and International Climate Tech Investment Trends.'
In the industry-specific presentations, experts from the shipbuilding and port, petrochemical, automotive, and renewable energy sectors discussed 'The Future of Key Industries in the Southeastern Region through Climate Tech,' drawing significant interest from attendees. During the discussion, Lim Dae-woong, Korea Representative of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Tan Nokwi committee members, industry-specific presenters, Ahn Young-shin, Head of Carbon Neutral Policy Division of Busan City, and Kim Gap-hoon, Green Finance Team Leader at KDB's Southeastern Investment Finance Center, deliberated on 'Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Industrial Green Transformation.'
Chairman Kang stated at the event, "KDB aims to play a leading role as the national climate finance bank to respond to the global climate crisis and enhance the green competitiveness of our companies." He added, "We will support KRW 154 trillion in green finance by 2030 for energy transition, decarbonization of industrial structures, fostering green materials and components, and creating an eco-friendly society. Through the promotion of climate tech, we will spare no effort to support the growth of promising green industries and the decarbonization of key industries."
