May 17-26 Gourmet Tourism Theme Festival Held in Wondosim Area
28 Recommended Restaurants by Taxi Drivers with Over 10 Years Experience
May 17, 7:30 PM at Busan Station, 'Taksulren Open Ceremony'
Busan City will hold the 9th Busan Original Downtown Revitalization Festival ‘Taeksulling’ from May 17 to 26 in the original downtown area (Jung-gu, Seo-gu, Dong-gu, Yeongdo-gu).
This festival was planned by combining tourism trends and festival elements to allow visitors to experience the local culture and food characteristics, breaking away from the existing alley-centered content.
‘Taeksulling’ is a gourmet tourism-themed festival that introduces 28 carefully selected ‘authentic’ restaurants in the original downtown, recommended based on accumulated information by veteran taxi drivers with over 10 years of experience who roam every corner of Busan. The name is a combination of ‘taxi’ and ‘Michelin’.
During the festival, the enjoyment will be enhanced through participation programs such as ▲publication of the Taeksulling guidebook ▲open ceremony ▲walking mission tours and taxi tours, as well as permanent dopamine urban events and video content operations where visitors can find dopamine throughout the original downtown.
In particular, on May 17 at 7:30 PM, the ‘Taeksulling Open Ceremony’ will be held at Busan Station Plaza to mark the opening of the 10-day festival.
The ‘Taeksulling Open Ceremony’ will feature ▲pre-event performances ▲unveiling of the Taeksulling trademark brand launch ▲first public reveal of the restaurants selected in the Taeksulling guide, along with ▲nameplate award ceremonies and tasting experiences at the selected restaurants.
Especially, former baseball player Lee Dae-ho, known as a gourmet, and the city communication character Buggi will attend as special guests to brighten the event.
The festival’s guidebook, ‘Taeksulling Guidebook,’ will be available online and offline after the open ceremony on May 17.
It will be shared through the Busan Culture and Tourism Festival Organizing Committee website, social networking services (SNS), and map apps such as Naver, Kakao, and Google, and the booklet will be distributed to citizens through promotions.
Prior to this, Taeksulling guide gourmet content featuring Churupkyun, a Busan lifestyle dining YouTuber with 241,000 subscribers, will be available on YouTube.
On weekends, various participation programs that allow visitors to feel the charm of the original downtown will be presented.
Using storytelling about the food culture and history of the original downtown, a ‘walking mission tour’ game and a ‘private taxi tour’ where participants can enjoy side dishes at long-established and popular restaurants and a scenic night drive of Busan are prepared.
Both programs can be joined by online advance reservation or on-site registration on the day until May 25. (Some are first-come, first-served and paid.) Detailed information can be found on the Busan Culture and Tourism Festival Organizing Committee website.
Additionally, guerrilla events (experiences, performances, etc.) will be held within the original downtown area, and participants will receive small souvenirs.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau, said, “Busan taxi drivers, who find routes faster and more accurately than navigation systems, are already famous nationwide,” and added, “We hope that more citizens and tourists can enjoy the unique tastes and atmosphere of the original downtown area through the restaurants recommended by taxi drivers who know the region inside and out.”
