On the 10th, Naver released its first official statement regarding the sale of Line Yahoo shares, saying, "As a major shareholder and collaborative partner of Line Yahoo, we will prioritize enhancing the corporate value of Naver and Line Yahoo and make important decisions accordingly."
Expressing apologies to Line Yahoo users for the security breach incident, Naver stated its commitment to doing its best to turn this matter into a stepping stone for a greater global leap.
Naver said, "We are continuing strategic considerations and reviews on the utilization of company resources and investments to increase the company's future growth potential and maximize shareholder value." Regarding Line Yahoo, it explained that it is consulting with SoftBank while keeping all possibilities open, including the sale of shares, to achieve the best possible outcome for the company.
However, it drew a line by stating that detailed information cannot be disclosed until a conclusion is reached. It plans to provide an opportunity to explain once specific details are finalized in the future.
Naver expressed gratitude for the government's consideration in clearly establishing principles, stating, "This matter is for companies in both countries to autonomously decide." It especially thanked the Ministry of Science and ICT and government officials for their thorough prioritization of the company's position and close communication.
Finally, it added, "As a leading internet company in the Republic of Korea, we will grow the company with a sense of responsibility and a mission to greatly contribute to the nation's digital competitiveness."
