[Special Stock] DI Benefits from SK Hynix's 20 Trillion KRW Investment in M15x... Increased Localization for HBM

DIE is showing strength. Securities firm analysis suggests that the domestication of wafer testers for HBM is being developed without any setbacks, which appears to be influencing the stock price.

As of 9:07 AM on the 7th, DIE is trading at 22,100 KRW, up 11.9% from the previous trading day.

Researcher Kwon Tae-woo of KB Securities explained, "Wafer testers are high-performance comprehensive inspection equipment that have two functions: burn-in and final testing. Starting in 2018, we began dual sourcing for NAND toward SK Hynix, and by the end of last year, the DDR5 wafer tester gained a competitive edge faster than competitors."

He added, "The DDR5 packaging burn-in area has firmly established itself as DIE's domain," and "Based on DDR5 wafer burn-in technology, development of burn-in testers for HBM is currently underway this year." Furthermore, he emphasized, "We expect successful mass production and supply as early as within this year or early next year."

Researcher Kwon also noted, "Benefits are expected from SK Hynix's new DRAM fab 'M15x,'" and analyzed, "SK Hynix recently announced a 5.3 trillion KRW investment plan for new fab construction in their earnings report." He added, "The goal is to complete construction by November next year," and "The total investment is expected to exceed 20 trillion KRW, with equipment investments planned to proceed sequentially." He stated, "Based on DIE's customer production capacity, the demand for wafer testers per 1K will be more than 1.5 units," and said, "It is necessary to pay attention not only to new HBM equipment but also to the potential orders for wafer testers for M15x in the future."

Researcher Kwon explained, "Remarkable profit level-up is expected due to the subsidiary's outstanding performance growth," and "Due to deferred supply of pre-ordered volumes, the first quarter results this year are expected to be sluggish." He continued, "Customers plan new back-end process investments starting with M15x in the Yongin cluster and the United States," and predicted, "This will lead to benefits for front-end and back-end inspection equipment."
