Seoul Jung-gu Residents Jo Yong-seok and Jeon Hye-hee Couple
Applying for Jeonse Rental Housing and Awaiting Announcement
On February, the couple born in 1995, Jo Yongsuk (29) and Jeon Hyehee (29), who became a hot topic for giving birth to their seventh child at a young age in their 20s, have recently been in the spotlight.
On the 6th, Jung-gu Office in Seoul announced that the Jo couple applied for a jeonse rental housing for newlyweds and newborns in March and are waiting for the announcement at the end of this month. The couple previously appeared on MBN's 'High School Mom 3,' where they revealed their daily life raising six children. In the August 2022 broadcast, Jeon revealed that she found out she was pregnant as soon as she became a senior in high school and gave birth to her daughter at 19, becoming a mother. The father of the first child was her boyfriend at the time, a freshman college student, and they broke up three months after the birth. One year later, Jeon met Jo, who understood her situation, remarried, and gave birth to six more children, currently raising seven siblings.

On the show, Jeon disclosed the household income and expenditure details. At that time, she said, "My husband's monthly salary is 2 million won, and with the child allowance of 400,000 won, the monthly income is 2.4 million won, but fixed expenses exceed 3.1 million won."
When Kim Gilsung, the head of Jung-gu Office, visited the family to deliver the childbirth and childcare support fund for the seventh child and asked about their difficulties, they said, "The house we live in now is 52㎡ (about 16 pyeong), but as the children grow, we think we need a bigger house." After this story became known, Kumho Petrochemical Group generously donated 100 million won. Park Changu, chairman of Kumho Petrochemical Group, said, "In this era of low birth rates, we decided to support this young couple raising seven children to encourage them," adding, "We hope they can live comfortably with their children in a slightly larger home."
The couple decided to use the donation as a jeonse deposit and are currently waiting for their new home with guidance from Jung-gu Office. The rental housing they applied for is known to be a multi-family house. Jung-gu Office plans to actively support remodeling such as wallpapering and flooring once the Jo couple's new home is decided. Also, all departments within the district office, including welfare policy, livelihood security, family policy, and education policy, will be mobilized to support them until all seven children become adults.
The Jo couple received 10 million won in childbirth and childcare support funds from Jung-gu Office in February. Last year, Jung-gu Office increased the childbirth and childcare support fund from 5 million won to 10 million won for families with five or more children, and this couple became the first beneficiaries. Currently, the Jo couple is raising children aged 10, 7, 6, 4, 3, 2, and a 3-month-old infant.
