"2024 Seoul International Garden Expo" Opens in Two Weeks... Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Inspects Han River Area

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted an urgent on-site inspection in preparation for the ‘2024 Seoul International Garden Expo’ held at Ttukseom Hangang Park on the 30th.

The Garden Expo, co-hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul International Garden Expo Organizing Committee, will open on May 16 and continue until the 22nd. Under the theme ‘Life of Gardens in Seoul,’ students, citizens, and companies will directly participate in creating garden works, and various garden culture programs such as garden exhibitions and garden industry fairs will be prepared.

In line with this event, the district created the Gwangjin Charm Garden on the way to Ttukseom Hangang Park, and planted 27 species of flowering shrubs and 46 species of wildflowers along the green areas around Neungdong-ro as a charming flower path. Hanging flower pots will be installed on railings along the event venue roads, including Jayang Riverside Road.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, carefully inspected the site with about 20 staff members to help ensure the successful hosting of the garden expo, which is being held for the first time in the region. The inspection focused on ▲the status of flower paths and garden creation ▲illegal street clutter, street vendors, and illegal advertisements ▲damage to road facilities and roadside greenery ▲illegal parking, motorcycles, and other traffic inconveniences. He also instructed special attention to safety and cleanliness in anticipation of many visitors.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “I thank the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul International Garden Expo Organizing Committee officials preparing for this event. We will not overlook even the smallest details to ensure the expo concludes successfully,” and added, “Taking this garden expo as an opportunity, we will widely promote the charm of Gwangjin-gu and transform it into a charming garden city that can take a step forward.”
