Expectations for Local Economic Revitalization through Settlement, Stability, and Continuous Hosting in Gyeryong-si
Gyeryong City in Chungnam announced on the 25th that it has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Army Association for the hosting of ‘KADEX 2024’.
The MOU ceremony held at the Chungnam Provincial Government small conference room was attended by more than 20 officials from each organization, including Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, Lee Eung-woo, Mayor of Gyeryong, and Kwon Oh-sung, President of the Army Association.
The main agreement contents are △ Chungcheongnam-do and Gyeryong City will actively cooperate in promoting the ‘defense industry exhibition’ and providing necessary support such as infrastructure △ The Army Association will continuously hold the ‘defense industry exhibition’ at Gyeryongdae and provide viewing benefits to Chungnam residents △ Necessary matters recognized by the signatory organizations for the successful hosting of the ‘defense industry exhibition’.
‘KADEX 2024’ is the largest ground weapons defense industry exhibition in Korea, a national event with participation from over 50 countries worldwide, and is called a comprehensive expo promoting K-defense.
The main programs include △ consultation meetings between global defense companies and domestic parts companies △ one-on-one consulting between companies wishing to enter the defense industry and relevant agencies △ startup technology demonstrations and investment briefings △ official purchase consultations between overseas official delegations and participating companies △ demonstrations of new technologies and products by participating companies to domestic and foreign military officials.
The city expects significant regional economic revitalization effects from hosting this expo.
Mayor Lee Eung-woo said, “I am very pleased together with the 47,000 citizens that Asia’s largest international defense industry exhibition will be held in Gyeryong City,” and added, “Based on our experience in successfully hosting the Gyeryong Military Culture Festival and the World Military Culture Expo, we will spare no support and cooperation for the successful hosting of KADEX.”
He also added, “We will focus all administrative power so that the excellence of Korea’s defense industry is known worldwide and that the brand of Gyeryong City, the defense capital, and strong Chungnam can be elevated to a higher level.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Gyeryong Military Culture Festival,’ ‘Ground Forces Festival,’ and ‘KADEX 2024’ are scheduled to be held simultaneously from October 2 to 6 for five days at the Gyeryongdae runway area in Gyeryong City, Chungnam.
