On the 26th, collaboration with Seongdong Police Station for practical training in deserted residential alleys to prepare for emergencies
Comprehensive inspection of response capabilities including inter-agency coordination, on-site dispatch, and suspect apprehension under emergency scenarios
Enhanced functions such as additional internet and phone access, and installation of luminous signboards for nighttime user convenience
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) will conduct a joint crime prevention drill with the Seongdong Police Station on the 26th in the residential alleyways of Seongsu 1-ga 1-dong.
Last November, a simulated drill for the 'Walking Path Crime Prevention System' was conducted to prepare for dangerous situations occurring in mountainous parks and embankment paths. This year, a virtual emergency scenario will be set up in the sparsely populated residential alleyways, simulating situations that could occur during students' commuting to and from school and office workers' commuting hours. The drill will proceed through the entire process from emergency alerts, inter-agency coordination, on-site dispatch, to suspect apprehension as if in a real situation.
About 20 personnel, including the Seongdong-gu Office Integrated Operation Center, the Seongdong Police Station (Crime Prevention Division), and the Seoul Forest District Unit, will participate together.
The 'Walking Path Crime Prevention System' used in this drill is a crime prevention policy first implemented nationwide by Seongdong-gu last year to alleviate residents' anxiety and prevent crimes amid a sharp increase in abnormal motive crimes targeting unspecified individuals. It is a system that allows individuals to use their smartphones like CCTV to report emergencies. Currently, it operates in 230 locations across 34 sites in 17 neighborhoods.
Starting in April, in addition to the existing method of accessing the system by scanning a QR code with a smartphone, new services such as internet link (URL) access (via Seongdong-gu Office notification talk) and Call To Web service, which connects to the 'Walking Path Crime Prevention System' webpage when making a phone call, are being implemented to enhance user convenience.
Seongdong-gu plans to expand the installation of luminous 'Walking Path Crime Prevention System' guide signs to prevent crimes against children and adolescents occurring on school and academy routes and late-night commuting paths, ensuring safety in daily life. Based on precise analysis data of crime occurrence by region, additional installations will be made in high-risk areas such as around aging facilities. Residents' opinions will be collected through Seongdong-gu Office's social network services (SNS) until April 30. Three solar-powered LED guide signs are also scheduled for installation in April.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "I hope this drill will help operate the emergency response system more stably," and added, "We will do our best to create a safe Seongdong-gu free from crime, based on administrative services that leave no one behind and help everyone."
