Jindu Kim, CEO of Ajin P&P, a specialized paper and packaging company, has been reappointed as the 29th president of the Korean Society of Pulp and Paper Engineering.
The Korean Society of Pulp and Paper Engineering held its regular general meeting on the 18th and elected CEO Jindu Kim as the 29th president. President Kim was the first current industry executive to be appointed as president of the society in 2022.
President Kim is recognized for leading the shift in perception that paper is an eco-friendly resource and for creating a new leap forward for the society.
First, he replaced the society’s symbol mark with a design embodying the identity of paper as a recyclable resource and revamped the official website. He also promoted various campaigns highlighting paper as a recyclable resource in cooperation with related organizations across the paper industry, such as the Korea Paper Association.
During his term, President Kim held the first joint autumn academic conference with the Korean Society of Wood Science and Technology since the establishment of the Korean Society of Pulp and Paper Engineering. The two societies pledged to unite their efforts to achieve carbon neutrality through this academic event. Additionally, by concurrently serving as an industry CEO and society president, Kim acted as a bridge between industry, academia, and research, significantly increasing corporate membership in the society.
Jindu Kim, president of the Korean Society of Pulp and Paper Engineering, said, “With environmental pollution caused by plastics and vinyl intensifying and the importance of paper as an alternative growing, I feel a heavy responsibility in being reappointed as president. We will steadily carry out ongoing projects aimed at changing perceptions about paper and share the eco-friendly value of paper more widely.”
